Invisible Love

Love is invisible.

We can know what love is only by the fruit of love.

This is the reason God is invisible. God is invisible except through that which He has made and what He does, by the results of His existence. Love must be manifested by the consequences of its existence. Words only do not manifest real love. It may be there, but it must be proven by actions. This the reason Jesus came - to prove God's love by His acts of love.

He proved His infinite love the an ultimate action on the cross. He was, is, and always will be Love. Because of His action, as well as by His words.

A man and a woman can say they love each other. But there is no way to be absolutely sure except by, not only words, but by action. Action to prove love often requires sacrifice in some way. As Christians, we prove our love for Jesus Christ by our actions, and often our faithfulness in our actions. This requires endurance in our lives in times of difficulties and trials, large and small.

This is where our "works" come in - our works in our lives show our love, or they are do not. When we show Christ that we believe in Him by our love-works, we, by the Holy Spirit, prove our love for Him. This is the reason that James proclaims that faith without works is dead. Love that is not proven by what we say and do is as no love at all. Jesus asked why one would say they believed in Him, and not do the things that He said:

"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:45-46)

Those who say they love, if they love and do not manifest love have a love bottled up and if it continues, only works to destroy the love they say they have. There is a human love that can turn inward and shows forth the love of self. A possessive love that can be misread as genuine love for others - even for God. This "love" desires and draws everyone and everything inward to exalt the self.

This love is very convincing and can be very deceptive, and can be a counterfeit of love of God. It can be so clever and so convincing, that no one other then Christ knows the truth. It may show forth "good works" that are works with a hidden motive. This kind of love manifests "good works" that are done for the love of self. Jesus addresses this type of love:

"Many will say to Me on that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name and driven out demons in Your name and done many mighty works in Your name? And then I will say to them openly (publicly), I never knew you; depart from Me..." (Matthew 7:22-23)

Yes, true love - the love of God - is invisible. Until it is manifest outward to, and for, others. Otherwise, it never really exists.

Is your love visible?

"For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]." - Ephesians 2:10
