Barnabas and Paul teach for one whole year
Date Posted: September 13, 2004

Acts 11:25. For a whole year, Barnabas and Saul (Paul) teach in that Church in Antioch. Many heard and received the teaching.

First - you hear about Jesus - you come to believe - then you need nourishing teaching which will build you up - and enable you to grow and mature.

The Church of Jesus Christ is where men of God teach the Word of God to the people of God. That is one reason why we in Nairn meet on Sundays and Wednesdays. We also meet to Worship - and Pray - and Fellowship.

There is a generation growing up in our land, which hardly knows anything about this book. Get to know the Bible - what it contains and teaches. We come to know God by studying what God has said in His Word.

Answer these questions - how have you been growing and maturing spiritually over these past weeks and months? Have others noticed? Have they remarked or commented? There are times when we not only review what we have been reading and studying in the Scriptures, but also the depth of our own person relationship with Jesus and faith in God.

It was in this city that the disciples of Jesus were first called Christians. "Christians" means - 'the little anointed ones' - little 'Christs'.

Jesus Christ - is the Saviour - the One Who saves us from our sins - and Who is anointed with The Holy Spirit.

Christians are those who have the anointing of The Holy Spirit. Just as Jesus was anointed when He came out of the River Jordan - just as the disciples were anointed by Jesus on the Day of Pentecost in the Temple in Jerusalem - so we must receive and experience that same anointing.

Antioch was the last place where many would have thought that this would have happened - but it happened - and it can happen again.
