'Christ in You...'
by Dale Krebbs
It seems that this three-letter word is becoming a universal, world-wide reality. Is this true, or simply the illusion created by the media? Do you feel that the pressure and complexities of your life are growing steadily without any major change in your personal circumstances? If we could examine the totality of events that affect everyday living, most would feel that the whole world is beginning to be a very dangerous place for humanity. And more especially for Christian believers in many parts of the world. Most are so preoccupied with “making ends meet” that… ( Click for more )
What is the greatest danger today to a Christian - and to one who is close to believing in Him? “Many false prophets will appear and mislead many. Because lawlessness is increased, the love of most people will grow cold. But the one who endures and bears up [under suffering] to the end will be saved.” - Matthew 24:11-13 (AMP) Jesus made this statement during His discourse on the Mt. of Olives. It is the longest and most detailed discourse spoken by Jesus recorded in the New Testament. One of His most alarming and important statements is that quoted above. Why?… ( Click for more )
It is easy to say to ourselves, when we are busy with life’s demands and obligations, that a word, or a deed we know we should fulfill just seems to drift by. Lost in the business of a mind filled with daily personal care, and the world’s constant demands on our minds and our time. This is the world. The world we all must respond to in some way, every day. Oh! the business of this indiscernible something called life! Life can become so complicated and obligatory that time seems to fly…hours turn into days; days become compacted into what we call weeks… ( Click for more )
Living in a fast changing world, it is almost impossible to see very far ahead in our lives. Usually only a few days, or even a few hours. This is as far as we can see ahead of us. However, Christ is walking just ahead of us. Unseen and usually, quietly. By the direction of the Holy Spirit, we are led just behind Him. Without knowing, we walk in His footprints. This being so, we are spiritually safe. Where He leads, we follow, being led by the Holy Spirit. Sometimes a sheep gets lost - not lost spiritually, but lost as to orientation and the ominous directions that our world… ( Click for more )
Scripture Study “The Lord is near to the heartbroken. And He saves those who are crushed in spirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin). Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous, But the Lord rescues him from them all. He keeps all his bones. Not one of them is broken.” - Psalm 34:18-20 (AMP) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “The Father loves the Son and has given and entrusted all things into His hand.… ( Click for more )
The expression in quotes above made a striking impression on an ambulance driver and his assistant several years ago that they surely have never forgotten. I certainly haven’t! I was not there when it occurred, but I have never forgotten the story. Which story is true… A good friend of my deceased wife lived alone in a two-story apartment. She was in poor health, with several bodily afflictions which seemed to become steadily worse as the weeks and months passed by. Her health seemed to steadily worsen. An ambulance was called in the middle of a night to her… ( Click for more )
That little word “if” rises again and again to question the obedience and disobedience of those who strive to remain faithful to God and their Savior. Even unto the time after Jesus came to earth, along with the Holy Spirit Who came to earth to strengthen those called out of sin and condemnation. That little word “if” places a conditional requirement on all humanity. Even those who are called and chosen for salvation. It can be said that all of humanity’s difficulties in living and existing can be summed up in one verse in the Bible. This verse… ( Click for more )
Nations: Yesterday And Today After God sent the worldwide flood on the earth, there were only a few humans on the whole earth…only Noah and his family. After the waters subsided, He and his family began from that time to produce children. From that time until now, the earth has been covered with many peoples and therefore many nations have covered the earth again. “13Now it came about in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, on the first of the month, the water was dried up [g]from the earth. Then Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked,… ( Click for more )
Do you feel sometimes that you simply must have rest? Some Christians in their zeal for their calling to be Christians, become so committed that they are near collapse under their burden. They feel that they must work harder for Jesus, and perform more than they perceive themselves to be abe may come up short in the sight of God, as well as others. We must realize that it is the genuine Christian who needs rest the most. We as Christians need rest from our struggles to earn a living, and we also struggle to live a life that is pleasing to Christ. But our struggles are helped… ( Click for more )
There was, long ago - whether real or a story I do not know - a king who had tried to conquer this country (whether real or just a story I do not know) by every means at his disposal…without success. For years he had attacked from every angle, every power and war machine he could muster….always, without success. The territory he desired to conquer could not be subdued by any means in his arsenal, by any trickery he could devise. Except for one… Eventually, someone (who I do not know) told him that he would never conquer that country. It was just too strong.… ( Click for more )
Have you been dismayed and even frightened when seeing or hearing the news? Watching TV, or hearing about what is going on in the world can disturb our minds, disturbing our lives in many ways. But what should be our response when we hear of this mounting evil in the world? The Apostle Paul wrote Timothy concerning conditions that were beginning to steadily get worse in the world: “But evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in the things that you have learned and of which you are convinced [holding… ( Click for more )
Most of us seldom realize that our whole lives revolve around what we believe. If we do not believe that our automobile would get us to where we desire to go, we would at least have second thoughts as to what we need to do next. Some would just take the chance - and drive. Some would ponder the next step, the next best thing to do, and attempt to go, regardless of any doubts or hesitations. They ignore the odds. However, most would have considered the possible risks, and have accepted the risks, and plunge. They just drive. In a sense, they just plunge into somewhat of a blind… ( Click for more )
This will be short… but terribly important. PLEASE continue… Where is it? This thing (if it can be described as a “thing”) called “Repentance”? Yes…WHERE IS IT…if it still exists? Several years ago this writer wrote several articles concerning repentance. Repentance on a personal, religious, and national scale, that must occur or the nation - and the world - is in very deep trouble. A few others (a few) voiced the same requirement: unless we as a nation repents, and unless there is a genuine, national, spiritual revival… ( Click for more )
“If, however, you are [really] fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, if you have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit]” you are doing well.” James 2:8 This is perhaps one of the most difficult commandments relating to human relationships in the Bible. At times, if we are completely honest with ourselves, there are some in our lives that we find extremely difficult to love - as ourselves. They may not be our enemies, they may not do us wrong. Perhaps they do not… ( Click for more )
It can be so easy when we feel down, and our life seems to have placed us on our on, to feel that God has somehow abandoned us. We can secretly feel in the darkness of our night as we try to sleep, that we must be a second-class Christian, that Jesus has place us last on the list of those whom He responds to. Do you feel sometimes that its because you are not part of the “inter circle” of your church, or just other Christians in general? Perhaps you subconsciously feel that its because of this that your life is not what you expected it to be? If this is so, you… ( Click for more )
In our world today - actually it has always been this way - there are many who are doing wonderful works. There are mammoth organization that have done and are doing wonderful works of service: the providing of human needs, relieving the struggle of multitudes that cry out for help. The list is almost endless, and their works are truly merciful and desperately need in a world of starvation, slavery. Some so massive that the average person will never know about. The works of mercy and compassion seem to be growing every day. The need and the efforts to fill that need. However,… ( Click for more )
Today there are many who believe that the return of Jesus will return is very near. We observe various unusual sign in the sky and even on the earth. Although this is certainly possible, a statement by Jesus would seem to cause us to question any statement which would indicate He would come because or at the time of an event. Down the ages many have attempted to judge the time of Jesus’ return. But He did not, and he has not as of the time of this writing. The Bible also speaks of His return as “a thief in the night”. Notice His warning: “Therefore,… ( Click for more )
Many it seems today decide to leave the church they have been attending. Some assume that if you leave a church, they have automatically abandoned Christ. There are many reasons. To those leaving, the reasons seem justified. Some of the reasons are justified, some are not. There are many churches to choose from and available to attend; therefore there are many also to leave, whatever the reasons. If someone knows the truth of Jesus Christ, and have believed in Him, if they are tired of the preaching they hear for some reason, perhaps they should just stop listening and just start… ( Click for more )
“Blow a trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, For the day of the LORD is coming; Surely it is near. A day of darkness and gloom, A day of clouds and thick darkness. As the dawn is spread over the mountains, So there is a great and mighty people; There has never * * been anything like it, Nor will there be again after it To the years of many generations. A fire consumes before them, and behind them a flame burns. The land is like the garden of Eden before them But a desolate wilderness behind them, And nothing… ( Click for more )
The Whole Counsel of God? "For I never shrank or kept back or fell short from declaring to you the whole purpose and plan and counsel of God." (Acts 20:27 Amplified Bible) We live in a society of "sound bites", video clips, instant messaging, and a pot pori of various and sundry "lnstants". TV commercials get shorter, with increasing glitz and lightening speed images - all compacted together within a very short time frame, and yet designed to have the greatest emotional impact. Truly, as someone has said, reality is what is perceived. The idea… ( Click for more )
These two books of the Bible seem to the reader to be some of the most repetitious, detailed, and wearing to read of all the books of all the Old Testament. Many readers of them see no modern application that can be applied. It seems like history and history only. However these two books teach an incredible truth that is easy to miss because of the seeming repetition. Israel had refused to enter the promised land, after all they had suffered getting that far. They refused to go the “last mile” with God and Moses. Their just punishment would play out over approximately… ( Click for more )
The title of this writing has been commented on many times, and during many “times” down through past ages. It seems to get most people’s attention. At least for a while. However, the truth of what is recorded in the book of Revelation becomes more and more convincing with the publishing of world news - almost hour by hour. The end of our world as we have known it, historically and presently, as recorded in the book of Revelation in the Bible become clearer day after day. (Revelation 13, etc.) Doubt and speculation is slowly becoming a reality in daily news… ( Click for more )
Can God use sinners while they are still sinners? Some would probably say a resounding “no!” However if this is true, we have a very serious problem with an incident that occurred in the Bible. This particular incident has had more than its share of comment, criticism, and speculation. Those who reject the biblical record say it proves a variety of conclusions. Some use it as an attempt to reject the Bible completely. Prior to Israel entering the promised land, Joshua sent spies to scout the land just across the border. Eventually, they entered a house. Rather… ( Click for more )
There is a word used many times in the Bible that carries more weight and authority than any other in the Bible. It is used often in public prayer, as well as private conversations. We use the phraises "heavenly Father', "God", "Lord God", "Holy Father", etc. And these expression of worship and thanks are appropriate. But one word stands out as perhaps the most important word we can use in praying and references to God, whether in private prayers, giving of thanks, or public worship. That word is "Lord". This word means one to whom… ( Click for more )
Someone, attempting to be humorous said “I can resist anything…except temptation”. It has been my experience that this statement could not be any more true. It is a universal truth that is almost universally proven by the human race. Short, pithy sayings are often humorous, and also illustrate a more important principle or truth. The implication of this saying being that the temptation itself is not the factor in a person’s mind that is sin. Rather, the temptation that is given in to, becomes the sin. The temptation of itself is not sin. Jesus was… ( Click for more )
