He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved,……  ( Click for more )

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (NKJV) We all learned this verse as children in Sunday school. We could recite it from memory with ease. For……  ( Click for more )

“Do not worry about tomorrow.

It has enough troubles of it’s own”

Matthew 6:34

Everyone talks about it, but no one does anything to change it. Some people call the issue “just plain nerves” I speak of stress.

Several years ago, when I took classes from a community college, I heard stress was an element found in all activities. There is good stress–eustress and bad stress–distress. Eustress is the oohs and aahs we experience when we watch fireworks celebrations. Distress is the feeling we have when we hear bad news. …  ( Click for more )

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life. Romans……  ( Click for more )

if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God,……  ( Click for more )

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Revelation 21:4-5a I dearly love……  ( Click for more )

Little children, I shall be with you a little while longer. You will seek Me; and as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come,’ so now I say to you. A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know……  ( Click for more )

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2 (NIV) The prophet Isaiah speaks of people walking in darkness. Who does he mean? Does he mean people who are not following God? Let us think that to be true. ……  ( Click for more )

As children of God we learn to respect those who are in our lives. Respect is a feeling of honor or esteem that, in the world, sometimes a person feels another needs to earn. However, with God it is different. He commands our respect because of Who He is.

When we come to God, we are to humble ourselves and give Him the attention He deserves. “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face . . . then I will hear. . . .”(2 Chronicles 7:14) What are the roles or qualities of God that we are to respect?

He is our creator.…  ( Click for more )

I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing. Ezekiel 34:26 (NIV) The LORD God here talks about blessing his people. He tells Ezekiel He will look favorably on those who love Him. He further tells the prophet that He will……  ( Click for more )

“And we pray this in order that you may live a life

worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing

fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.

Colossians 1:10(NIV)

When we see children after a while of not being around them, it seems the first words we speak

to them are, “My, how you’ve grown. Last time I saw you, you were so high.” And we hold our hand to the approximate place they stood.

I remember a group of siblings who came to our former church several years ago. I remember that all but one of…  ( Click for more )

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world and the world is passing away and the lust of it,……  ( Click for more )

When we are asked about why we go to church, how do we respond? Do we say we go to be with people, to get caught up on the lives of our friends, or do we realize that we go out of habit?

Our main reason for attending church is to worship God. How does God tell us to do this?

Throughout His Word, God tells us about how he wants us to approach Him.

“Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful song.” Psalm 100:2 (NIV)

The psalmist advises us to have glad hearts when we approach God. When we have a lot of evil in our world, He still gives…  ( Click for more )

Humble, Gentle, Patient

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)

We can’t turn on and off humility and gentleness as we do a water spigot. We shouldn’t choose to be humble one day and haughty the next. In other words, we can’t come across as if we know it all.

Gentleness should be worn every day. Once we ask Jesus into our hearts, we belong to God at all times. We are to model Him before those in our lives. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Colossians, “Therefore as God’s…  ( Click for more )
