Nasty wants wrapped in “I need”
Newer, better, more improved
N’eer the wrappings, it’s still greed
A pair of shoes to match that purse
I haven’t got a thing to wear
Extravagance don’t mean a thing
When third world country feet go bare
Faster laptops, shiny cars
Books, CDs and gourmet meals
Redecorate, upgrade, expand it
Numb your conscious till you can’t feel
The little empty spot inside you
The whisper of the Voice within

Sometimes it’s hard to be a Christian when you get behind the wheel of a car. It’s almost like another person takes over the wonderfully spiritual, quiet and gentle-spirited woman that I normally am (HA!). It makes me wonder if Jesus was ever tempted to lose His temper when somebody cut their camel in front of His while on the way to temple! I came into the garden to talk with my Lord. My steps were slow, and my heart was as heavy as a stone. Quietly, with head hung low, I sat down. Silence… I was too ashamed to speak, to even lift my eyes. I wondered if this is how Eve felt when she hid from God in her garden, sin-sick.

So there I am last night logging in miles on my trusty treadmill. I wasn’t sweating to the oldies, I WAS a sweating oldie! But I was being a godly Christian woman, following 1Corinthians href="https://pro.studylight.org/study-desk.html?q=1co+9:27">1 Corinthians 9:27 and beating my body.
