Turn in your Bible to Psalm 20. Here in these opening words, we read of something which we do not come across often in the Psalms - the words of the prayer of the people for David. We return to Psalm 119 and Verses 49 - 56. This word, written some 3000 years ago is so relevant - appropriate - meaningful - for the times and days in which we are living - and to the situations in which we find ourselves. We come to Mathew Chapter 8 verse 5 - Jesus now enters Capernaum. It will be a familiar passage for many but there are times when lessons need refreshing. Jesus Christ’s’ presence at a wedding could transform the situation – his meeting a funeral procession could turn tragedy into rejoicing. His words when he spoke about sin and hypocrisy were searing and scorching – yet, when dealing with a sinner no one has ever been so tender and merciful and compassionate!……  ( Click for more )

Jeremiah Chapters 8 and 9. We come to the Word of God - always - in the Name of Jesus Christ - expecting Jesus to speak to us through this Word and expecting the Holy Spirit to minister to us, in some way. In Jeremiah Chapter 5 and at verse 5 we read that Jeremiah sets out to go and speak to the leaders - but they too have compromised their principles - “Surely they will know the way of the Lord - surely they will know what God requires of them.” Yes, they knew - but they had thrown off……  ( Click for more )

We come to Jeremiah Chapter 5. This preaching of Jeremiah - these messages - these addresses - are so relevant to our nation today. We see that again in the verses we are reading. We are reading the prophetic preaching of a young man – Jeremiah – the early preaching of this young man - preaching to a people who really didn’t want to hear - to people who did not want to listen nor pay any attention. As we read Jeremiah Chapters 2 and 3 - the whole Hebrew nation is in view. Prophets tend to ignore the divided kingdom. They speak to the whole people of God. We move into Jeremiah Chapter 2 – and from verse 1 right down to Chapter 3 verse 5, we have one of his sermons - one of his messages, or addresses. We are reading of a young man - in his teens - preaching for the first time - not in the Temple, but in the streets of Jerusalem - to very unsympathetic……  ( Click for more )

Jeremiah the prophet - like every true prophet - spoke from God and spoke for God - and his words came true. This is what marks him out as a true prophet. Deuteronomy 18 verse 22. Why did Almighty God choose this teenager? God saw something in Jeremiah - and God knew He could put more into him. Jeremiah means - GOD HURLS - God throws - God fights - and soon Jeremiah would be throwing God’s Word at the world - hurling heaven’s message across Jerusalem - fighting the depths of sin into……  ( Click for more )
