God's Words For US
by Cecelia Lester
When we are asked about why we go to church, how do we respond? Do we say we go to be with people, to get caught up on the lives of our friends, or do we realize that we go out of habit?
Our main reason for attending church is to worship God. How does God tell us to do this?
Throughout His Word, God tells us about how he wants us to approach Him.
“Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful song.” Psalm 100:2 (NIV)
The psalmist advises us to have glad hearts when we approach God. When we have a lot of evil in our world, He still gives ( Click for more )
Humble, Gentle, Patient
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)
We can’t turn on and off humility and gentleness as we do a water spigot. We shouldn’t choose to be humble one day and haughty the next. In other words, we can’t come across as if we know it all.
Gentleness should be worn every day. Once we ask Jesus into our hearts, we belong to God at all times. We are to model Him before those in our lives. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Colossians, “Therefore as God’s ( Click for more )
“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways. Then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and hear their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
When you encounter problems in life, do they tend to get you anxious? Does it seem that you cannot forget the hurt someone has caused you? How do you solve them? What about the issues our cities and towns face? What about the states and the nations? We have available a tool that can cause improvement in our outlook and in our world. King ( Click for more )
“I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.” Ezekiel 34:26 (NIV)
From time to time, we receive blessing from God. He chooses to grant us special favors to make our lives richer. We spend a certain season of the year counting the ways God has blessed us. Could it be possible that we are to acknowledge His blessings upon us throughout the year?
This spring I started a journal listing of blessings God showered on me. My goal is to be able to share one thousand blessings in my blog ( Click for more )
“This day I have called heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life. . .” Deuteronomy 30:19 (NIV)
As individuals, we make choices every day of our lives, starting from when the alarm rings each morning to when we retire for the night.
We had an elderly relative who was a very early riser. She called me once and asked me to meet her the next day at the building where her doctor was located and go with her to her doctor appointment. The hospital’s patient van would transport ( Click for more )
Love
“. . . and the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
Poets write about it. Songwriters pen lyrics and spark something in our hearts. The apostle Paul tells us it is “. . . the greatest of these. . . .” He also calls love “the most excellent way.” (1 Corinthians 12:31)
Jesus tells us to “love the Lord, you God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Mark 12; 30) He also commands us to “Love your neighbor as yourself.”(Mark 12:30)

“Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will open.
Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
ASK
When we have a need and we approach someone as we seek help from him or her, how do we bring up the need? Do we use force and demand that need be met? It doesn’t work like that. We have to ask. When I was a child, there was a saying. “You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.” I didn’t fully understand the meaning until I became an adult. We will be received better when we present our needs as requests.

Bond of Peace
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace” Ephesians 4:3 (NIV)
As children of God, we strive to seek tranquility in our lives. Every area of our life-home, workplace, and our business relationships- is to bring comfort to those we encounter.
Given the state of the world, we may find this difficult to do. We get hit from every side by events and happenings that the devil plans to undermine our beliefs and our faith in our way of life.
